REACHING THE NATIONS
As the Church, we are called to preach the gospel and take care of the poor locally, nationally and globally. One of the ways we do that is by financially supporting strategic missions efforts around the world.
MISSIONS CORE VALUES
Missions is a core value of Broadway Pentecostal Church. We value people who are unaware of God’s grace, mercy and love. As responsive disciples of Jesus Christ, we believe that we owe them His compassion and that we are called to be the instruments of that compassion. Our practical acts of service clearly show them that they matter to us and, ultimately, to God.
Between local and international missions, it is our desire to replicate the building of strong disciples of Jesus Christ, who will be well-equipped to effectively reach pre-Christians with the loving and redemptive message of salvation in any and every context to the glory of God. Therefore, we will train and equip people who are called of God to effectively serve and / or lead in order to accomplish the work of local and global missions (Luke 15; Matthew 28:19).
THE MISSIONS WE SUPPORT
LOCAL MISSIONS
Local Missions is accomplished through our Love Orangeville ministry – a philosophy of ministry, a common thread, woven into the fabric of the entire being and doing of the Church. Whether it’s donating food, clothing and more to ‘Choices’ youth shelter and ‘Transition House’ women’s shelter or one of the many fun and exciting initiatives by the Family Ministries department, such as summer camp, outreach to neighbourhood kids, or our energetic adult groups, like our knitting group making and donating gloves, hats and scarves for the needy in our community, EPIK sponsoring little league sports teams, or our Church-Wide initiatives such as the monthly collection for food to donate to the Orangeville Food Bank, the Orangeville Farmers Market corn roast, the annual Hope Banquet at Christmas, which meet the physical and spiritual needs of people in our community, there’s something for everyone to be involved in.
One thing we must never forget is that worship is about God not us.
NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS
International Missions at Broadway Pentecostal Church goes beyond mere sponsorship of missionaries to include active partnership through prayer and participation with Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC) missionaries and related ministries. Currently, we sponsor three missionary families – Pastor Hector and Ruth Aragon in Guatemala, Pastor Darren and Patty McCrea in Columbia and Pastor Ejay Tupe in Toronto
Hector & Ruth Aragon
The Aragons have been actively involved in evangelism and visitation work for ChildCARE Plus (CCP) since January 1997. The program is presently benefiting 15 communities in Guatemala, each with a school and a local church, and with a total enrolment of more than 3,500 children. Hector works with the local pastor, visiting the parents of sponsored children, encouraging them to receive Christ, attend church and to continue sending their kids to school.
They work with the William Cornelius Vocational Training Centre (WCVTC), which provides education in technical studies to CCP graduates.
They are continually taking short term missions teams from Canada to do ministry on the streets, in public schools and in hospitals. They also take Canadian task force teams on any building projects needed on the WCVTC, or to help fix or remodel ChildCARE Plus schools. They also help to lead these teams on work done on new edifices for developing local assemblies. Hector also engages in teaching and preaching in churches and gatherings of pastors and evangelists.
Ministry goals:
Translate, print and promote a Sunday School Certificate Program.
Train pastors and their leaders with a discipleship program.
Help the CCP schools close the three-year gap for preparing students for the William Cornelius Vocational School.
Promote the need for more child sponsors.
Medical care is all but unavailable to hundreds of poor families in Guatemala. Minor injuries or illnesses can quickly become life-threatening. Pray for local and international ministries seeking to help meet pressing needs like infant mortality and malnutrition, which are among the highest in the region.
Darren & Patty McCrea
I (Darren) am from London, Ontario and have ministered in Colombia since 1995. Patty is Colombian, a Teacher with a specialty in Child Psychology and has served in missions since 1993. we have two wonderful boys, James and Darien.

Our ministry includes:
• Training Latino missionaries, many of whom will be ministering in closed nations.
• Mobilization – this means organizing events like community and medical outreaches and raising up local Christians to serve. Our heart is to see Colombians reaching Colombians!
• Receiving International Short-Term Outreach Teams. These teams help to build up local churches through construction projects, evangelism and training. Team members have opportunities to love needy children and to share the Gospel in schools, shopping malls and other public venues.
We build and renovate churches, community centres and come alongside children’s home and ministries.
In Colombia, we work in partnership with Mobile Teams, Youth With A Mission (YWAM), Bogota. Through our outreaches we touch the lives of tens of thousands of people each year.
Ejay Tupe - Urban Missionary serving in Toronto, Canada and Minister with PAOC.
In 2005, God surprised me when I was called to begin working with homeless men in Edmonton. On my second interview at the shelter, I was confronted with a very pungent smell of urine, vomit, listerine, alcohol, drugs, etc… and it was in that moment that God spoke to my heart and said, “Ejay, this is the smell of people I love, now go love them!”
This journey then led me to move to the youth shelter next door where 90% of my clients were addicted to Methamphetamines. These were the formative years for me in street ministry as the Lord began to show me new things about the scriptures, life and grace and most of all, loving people. But despite this incredible ministry in Edmonton, I knew in my heart I wanted to do ministry in Toronto. After a couple of interesting turns, I was invited by Church in the Beach to join the staff in 2007 and it was there that I returned to do ministry in Toronto. I later found a case manager position with a City funded shelter, but I knew that this shelter limited me in ministry as I could not speak of Christ to the youth. I later took a position with Yonge Street Mission in 2008 as a Street Youth worker to join an already seasoned drop-in team to minister to the hardest to reach youth in the city. This was where I honed my skills as a pastor at Church in the City and a Street worker with Yonge Street Mission. The opportunities were endless as I was part of Cornerstone Urban Church where we served community meals to 400-500 people every Saturday, ran a youth ministry in the heart of St. Lawrence, ministered to homeless youth, drug addicts, drug dealers, prostitutes, pimps, etc… Most of all, I did not merely speak of Christ as a hope in their life, but I was able to tangibly help them by being an advocate for them in court, assisting them in getting jobs, help them find housing, etc… I was able to work as a pastor, missionary, and a social worker. These were the skills I presented to Mission’s Canada when I spoke to them about wanting to be involved with our fellowship’s urban strategy to reach the cities.
Now I am dreaming along with Mission Canada to see what God has in store next. The past 8 years of street ministry has been an incredible journey, but I am praying and dreaming to see how God will mix these two worlds in my life and for the church. The reality is, despite the great ministry I’ve been able to do, there still exists two tensions: The Church and Social Work. This reality has existed for a long time, but recently I have noticed that the church at large is beginning to ask some interesting questions about justice, and serving the poor. To which I believe being a catalyst for missionally minded urban leaders who will invest in the downtown core might bring us to see some exciting possibilities. So my main goals are: 1. Create awareness for the realities of downtown ministry 2. Recruit and train other Urban workers 3. Begin a downtown movement/expression of ministry that will not only birth churches, but tangible social initiatives that meets an unmet need in the city.
Prayer needs:
I’m praying for partners who will journey with me to see what God has in store for the city.
I’m praying that faith communities would support me and allow me to share my vision to reach Toronto’s urban core.
Future Urban leaders who want to also invest their lives into reaching people in Toronto.
